Jade Pearce is a first-year MSW practicum student planning to specialize in clinical social work. She aims to bring a therapeutic lens to her work by acknowledging individuals and how they navigate their social systems. Her internship at the Goldsen Institute has allowed her to expand her knowledge in the macro sphere by incorporating a research lens to better understand issues affecting older adults who identify within the LGBTQIA+ community and their caregivers.
By engaging with current research on older adult care and implementing evidence-based practices through caregiver education, Jade is developing a deeper understanding of the complexities of older adults’ and caregivers’ needs. In addition, Jade has worked as a Notary for the past two years, where she has seen firsthand the gaps within the medical and legal systems. She hopes to use her compassion and knowledge to help older adults navigate and understand available resources throughout their end-of-life care journey.
