Our findings indicate that more than 2 million older adults in the U.S. self-identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual – a number we expect to more than double by 2030. As the population of older adults continues to grow rapidly, it is imperative to investigate and respond to the unique needs of underserved older adults. Our goal is to eliminate disparities and strengthen the health and wellness of at-risk populations throughout their lives, starting with older adults.
Our foundational discoveries in the health and wellness of these older adults inform thought leaders across industries, including service providers, scientific and practice community, policy makers, and community partners. At the Institute, we use our findings to develop powerful interventions and programs and reduce local, national and global health inequalities.
